How Back to School is Going

Well, I’ve been back at work (which is a school if you didn’t know) and it’s been a lot of work planning, organizing, and creating. I have moved from 3rd grade to 4th grade this year and thus I am in a new room. I was in the last room for 2 years so I accumulated a lot of junk -ahem- I mean, valuable learning materials that had to be toted about 300 feet to the new room. Sounds easy . . . wasn’t easy. I was huffing and puffing getting in my car at the end of the day. Anyway, tomorrow I have to do the walls and get everything ready for the kids who come Monday. I have a feeling I will not get it all done and have to go in Saturday. There’s a lot more I could say about my team, the curriculum, the fact that my school did so well on the standards test that we are out of “Program Improvement” status, but this is a blog and someone once told me it was better to be brief! You know me, I will ramble on it all eventually. So enjoy these DSCN1221 DSCN1222 DSCN1223 “before” pictures, before going home tomorrow, I will post the “afters.”

Lol, I am sure that was pretty tiring lugging all of that to the new classroom. I can appreciate the work you do a little bit because my wife teaches preschool and she has been spending so much time getting things ready to take in to school.

Unfortunately, they have to clear everything out at the end of the year and bring it all back the following year as the school is used for other things during the summer.

You guys start school on Monday? Our kids have about 3 weeks left of summer.

Oh yes, preschool is just as tough! My mom taught for 20 years! Yeah, we get the students Monday and it is set to be an amazing year. We’re a low socio economic area and yet our scores are rising faster than the rich kids. It’s exciting, but we have to keep up the momentum.

Good luck with finishing up the classroom and I’ll be looking forward to the after pictures.

That’s great that your school has rising scores and is a very good thing to see. Kudos to you and all the other teachers at your school, keep up the good work!

Wow! That looks like a lot of work! Looks like you have a nice size classroom, though, unless the picture is deceiving. How many students do you have in a class there?

Glad to hear the scores are increasing, too!

Yeah it was a lot of work. Actually I did a lot after that picture was taken. Right now I am “mid-way” done. I’m starting with 30 students. It’s gonna be a strong year academically, I can feel it! Setting up a classroom is great when you are “in the zone” but parts of it are slow and tedious. I guess every job has its thorns.

Kudos on the rising scores.

That didn’t come easily, I’d wager.

Junk / valuable learning materials? :D

Looking forward to the next set of photos.

Big job.
