8 More Casualties

The news anchor tonight said that 8 soldiers died from a suicide bomber attack in Iraq today. My wife made a good point that while 8 seems like a small number for war deaths, imagine if it were our son. Wouldn’t 1 be enough to make us instant peace militants?
We know at least 8 families are wrestling with that today.
Am I alone in wondering what we are doing over there? Where is the visionary speaker in the world who can explain to all of us why it’s an important war? In my travels, he/she is nowhere to be found. We really need to come together against this war to stop the bleeding before it’s too late.
I am not a Michael Moore fan, but our culture is crying out for a rhetorician who can sell us on something: to stay or go . . . but SOMETHING and for a good reason. I hope no one else dies over there, but that’s an impossible hope. I used to be a Bush fan, but not lately. he’s failing in the leadership department. In my opinion, if you can’t rally a country behind a war, you’re lacking as President. If you have another view, I welcome your comments.

I agree with you 100 %. I’ve struggled to understand a lot of this since 9/11 happened. I’m just kind of clinging to the hopes that there are things happening or objectives that we just don’t know about. Probably not the case, but I’m still hoping because the whole entire thing makes no sense otherwise.
My main suspicions are triggered by the fact that we’re fighting a war against terror and it has been almost 6 years that we have supposedly been on the hunt for THE mastermind terrorist Osama Bin Laden and we still can’t find him? I just find that really hard to believe, which leads me to think that there must be other objectives in play here. Like I said, I’m really hoping so anyway.
Well said. I have a feeling there are some mental resources in our country who aren’t being let in to the “situatuion” room and it’s unfortunate. America is smart enough to beat the terrorist, and the tanks aren’t working. thanks for being brave enough to put your 2 cents in on a hot topic!
