8 Things I Know

Since I turned 38 today, I’ve been thinking about what I “know” after these three decades and 8 years. I came up with some good ones. I thought about writing a post where I list 38 things I “know,” but that seemed as laborious as lighting 38 candles. Instead, I chose to list 8 things that I know.
It’s been said that in life, “the more you learn, the less you ‘know’.” I’d agree with that, but that doesn’t mean you can’t know something! I’m tagging fellow bloggers to blog their 8 just for fun. I won’t be hurt if you don’t accept the tag, but I would like to see your 8! Anybody else out there that wants to do it: TAG YOU’RE IT!!!
My 8 things I know:
- Family is #1 above anything else.
- Slow and steady wins the race.
- The best networking is done through real relationships.
- Kids are just small adults.
- Above all else, nurture and follow a sense of curiosity.
- Don’t give negative people ANY of your precious energy.
- Applying yourself to education in any form will yield rewards.
- Make lists, it makes life easier!
UPDATE! 8 Things one Crazy!
Because I have such great friends on my blogroll, most notably Shelly at ThisEclecticLife.com ;) my “8 Things I Know” meme has produced some other truly valuable posts. I felt the passage of time as my birthday came and went on that day and I wanted to share 8 things I “know” after my years on this wacky, wonderful blue marble. Others responded with their own “8″ posts, and they are all really great.Some of the “Great 8’s” out there are downright profound. I thought I’d post a collective of all the wise lists here at the post footer. As they come in I’ll try and update this list. If you want to be automatically updated when another gets added, just leave a comment on this post and click “subscribe to comments” when you submit your comment. I’ll do a bump post when I update to see you get a notification. Or you could just check back!

I found my way here by This Eclectic Life. I posted my “Eight Things” meme today. Some things just start to pour out unexpectedly and for good reason. My hope is that my mistakes and insight can help another.
Happy 38! Thanks for sharing the wisdom you’ve learned. “Kids are just small adults.” Isn’t that an understatement! I wish more older folks would get that. I’m a stay-at-home mother of an almost 3 year old and always said if she was having a difficult time expressing herself that she has emotions just like adults and is trying to vent, only sometimes it looks slightly different than our version. And, in some cases probably not!
