		<description>Thanks Jeremy.  Nice blog by the way.  Lifelock has some real detractors that I have been hearing lately.  I like their product and the price of it but I totally think dissenting opinions are what's free market enterprise is all about. 		<description>If you are interested in a dissenting opinion, I am a computer security professional and I've reviewed the things that Lifelock offers. My view is that it's not worth the money partially because the "services" they offer are mostly things you can do yourself for free and partially because I don't like insurance.

Most of all, there's a much cheaper alternative which is freezing your credit reports. Once you freeze your reports, no one can open credit in your name. Granted, there are kinds of ID theft that aren't related to credit, but they're far more rare and generally easier to clear up (ex, someone gets a speeding ticket in Alaska and uses your data, but you've never been there in your whole life).

Anyway, here's my breakdown of lifelock:
