Blogging for Kids With Cancer

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe via rss -or- inspiration, psychology, blogging

Blogging can forge new friendships.  It can also raise money!  Anytime cancer gets news it’s a good thing because it gets us closer to a cure.  Sometimes money is the best weapon against cancer, and people ask for it.  Other times, it is your awareness and Shelly at [This Eclectic Life] has undertaken a project to get bloggers aware of cancer.  Getting involved could not only raise awareness of cancer, but you will make a new blog contacts along the way!

She explains it all on her blog and, her being a storyteller by trade, she tells it better than I can.  The basic story is that she saw a quilt given to kids with cancer and was very moved.  She wanted to do the same but couldn’t quilt . . . HOWEVER, she could CROCHET!

As a result of putting her idea of crochet squares for kids with cancer, she has collected thousands of them.  Imagine if you were a kid with cancer and you got a handmade blanket made by people who cared about you and your condition.  I find her charity her very touching.  Shelly has all kinds of was you can help out.  Even if it is like I have done, linking her on your blog.  If you click the button and read you’ll see she’s developed many ways you can help these kids.   Please stop over and read the post about it as well as the updates.  I know you’ll be moved and you will imagine those kids getting their blankets.

Kids with Cancer

Thanks.  -D

Smiles sent your way for writing about it! That was a good point you made about awareness.

What an interesting, worthwhile project.
Will check it out.
Sadly I do not crochet but I know people who can.

Nice blog, do visit mine sometime.

@Marcia: There is so much going on around us all the time we are not aware of! Don’t you agree? I hardly ever thought of kids with cancer until this project came my way!

@Rose: Shelly is doing a great thing here. I know your comment will be very encouraging to her.

@Denise: I know what you mean. I have a mother-in-law who crochets and never thought about telling her since she doesn’t blog. When I told her, she was interested!

Thanks for blogging about this, my friend. I’m getting some good responses locally (finally). I still think it’s the bloggers out there, and their connections, that make the project exciting. Kids in Texas will be much more impressed with a tag that says “California” or “Idaho” than they will with one that says “Texas.”
I appreciate your support, Damien.

Don’t mention it. My wife’s mom and her sister both have said they will make some squares. God bless you for doing this.
