I just read a post on clever linguistic blogger Tim’s The ‘Grape-Nuts’ of Wrath during my lunch hour. I was thus inspired to do some research on the name origin of one of my favorite products: Coca Cola. To echo Tim’s question of the day to his readers, I sumbit one similar:
“Is the Coca in Coca Cola referring to cocaine?”
Yes, if you didn’t know already, Coca Cola once had a fairly hefty dose of cocaine in it. Obviously as drug laws came into being, it was removed, but the name stuck. I am always fascinated by the history of words and names. I’ll be looking out for odd names and their origins today. Gracias Tim. I give your post:
4 Shamrocks.
