Google Reader and Actual Blog Reading Meet

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe via rss -or- inspiration, psychology, blogging

Before tonight I thought there were only 2 ways to read blogs:

  1. Surf them like you would normal webpages. -and-
  2. Read them in a feed reader like Google Reader.

I’ve discovered another way and if you know how to put shortcuts on your toolbar, you should add this now. Google Reader has something in the “Goodies” section called “next.” Yep, you read right . . . a simple link you can add to your browser toolbar called simply: “next.” What it does is truly awesome.

Let’s say you like to comment on posts you read and you are frustrated by Google Reader because you have to click the actual source to get to comment. With the “next” feature, you click through each “actual source” blog page that has updated since your last read. Try it out, you’ll see what I mean right away. This is truly going to help me get around more. Here’s a link to the menu where it is. From there click: manage subscriptions / goodies / and there you will find the “next” link to add to your browser toolbar:

google.com/reader/view/

Let me know how you like it.

I’m so lost it’s ridiculous! I can’t even follow your instructions forget about actually going there. By the way, I did and exited quickly. ;)

I’m stickin’ to those who I already read and their readers.

Hey . . . if it works, don’t fix it. For me it was nice to see the actual posts rather than the feed just by pressing a button! BTW, the sites on a Google reader are the ones you select, and you have to be registered (free) and logged in so that MIGHT be why the directions didn’t work! Thanks for the comment! I haven’t had many lately (boo hoo)
