I’d Like to Thank the Academy, and a few Bloggers for Rockin’ with the Damester!

m_b066c506400141e4dea8838ad6ecfcbdOK! This blog is one of the most rockin’ things in my life right now next to my family, so I’m gonna gush and sponsor my own mock awards ceremony and thank some top-shelf people!

I am excited that I am calling my blog a journal now and the journey to that has been much more complex than you might imagine. I don’t know if many people will understand how, but that’s okay. Anyway . . . It’s a blog too, but more a journal. Feel free to be a voyeur . . . I am on most of yours. This is my imaginary world where I express myself and you BUY IT!! GOD BLESS YOU FOR THAT CHARITY!!! After nearly 9 months I have a few folks I’d like to mention because they rock the house in this endeavor (this is an arrival dammit!):

There are many. many more I should be thanking but these are the first ones to thank on my blogroll. Please let me know if you feel you’ve been left out. My blog is exactly where I want it to be and these people (directly or their works/indirectly) have helped me get to this place. At one year, I hope to throw a huge party and invite you all out here to Southern California!!! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN! Okay, gotta go watch SNL we TIVO’d from last night . . . the kids are sleeping and Brandon is at camp WOO HOO! To all my readers, let me say this: “There is MUCH MUCH more to come! Thanks for reading. I really appreciate it.” But alas, for now, to quote my Governor, “Hasta la vista . . . BABY!”

I definitely do not follow too many blogs because I have such a busy life with job, kids, blogging, business etc. But Damien, you are definitely one of my favorites and one that I visit regularly. Thank you for putting yourself out there and letting us into your life. I think we have a lot in common such as the kids we have and the love for reality television as well as blogging of course! Keep up the great work and I shall always be visiting.

PS. I enjoy how you keep changing up your theme. Keeps us on our toes! I wish I had the time to muck with my theme but I don’t… :D TAKE CARE, BLOG LONG AND PROSPER!

Thank you so much!!! Yes, those things you mentioned are binding when people have them in common (add headaches to the kids mix LOL) Your words are so very cool and kind. That stuff keeps me at work pursuing the perfect post like Indiana Jones!

On the themes: I’ll be writing more on my experience in upcoming posts and a series (prior to the year mark in December I want to get something out on themes) BUT you are correct it takes time and yours is nice, so don’t risk messing it up and then having to leave your comp ;) I suggest starting up a hidden version of WordPress (I have 3) to do your experimenting. A teaser though on what I have found (you probably already know). The most important thing is content and blogs are nothing more than dressed up feeds. You’re better off ignoring the theme and focusing on the content and letting “access to that content” dictate what theme and plugins you pull out of the witches cauldron out there. :) Thanks for reading my blog, I need to get over to yours more than I do because I always learn something. One of these days maybe I can twist your arm to start a personal blog! Take it easy.

YAY! Thanks for including me on this quite impressive list :) I’m still going to debate you on this “blog vs. journal” thing, though. It’s still a blog!!!!! Here’s the definition right out of my dictionary:

blog:
(n.) Short for Web log, a blog is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author.
(v.) To author a Web log.

Do I win the debate? Or at least end it? LOL

Okay okay . . . I love these types of comments discussions. Let me take you on a dialectical logic walk (he he he)

1. The first time your heard the word “blog” was it a good association? (I thought of a “blob”)

2. How do you like the cadence and sound of the word “journal?”

3. Technorati boasts multiple millions of blogs. How many journals does it boast?

4. Ever heard of “Live Journal?”

ok ok ok

I am fully aware that this site is a blog, you are correct. However, for my own personal growth (or devolution I’m not sure which) I am calling it a journal so I don’t feel the need to “compete” with the millions, just make perfect posts about my thoughts that apply to my life. I have kept and thrown away a bazillion journals in my life. this one migt actually stay for me to read when I’m a little old 80 year old man sorting through folders (Maybe by then we will be able to blog through lightning bolts from our MIND!!!!!!)

Love ya Jessica! Agree with you too that this is a blog. can I still call it a journal in the tagline though? Like maybe a truce here??? he he he.

Hey, it’s your BLOG (HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAA!), call it whatever you wish (HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAA!) !

The first time I heard the word “blog” I thought it was a cool sounding word, really. When my friend was being deployed to Iraq for a year, he wanted me to help him set up a site where he could post pictures, write about things going on, his thoughts, whatever. I said “Oh, a blog”. he had never heard the term, and just like you, didn’t have a good initial impression of the word. He insisted on calling his a journal, too!

When I hear the word journal (even Live Journal), I think of a book, a diary actually, but that’s just me, I guess.

I don’t think Technorati boasts and “journals” because, well, they are blogs :) (had to sneak it in there one more time!)

Truce accepted :) Jessica
