Message to Nick

Yesterday I sent a call for help to Nick at [Oubipaws]. He’s a programmer by trade and he’s always been really cool about helping me out with WordPress issues. (It’s good to have a few friends like that because most WordPress forums suck! Of course my Online Diarists Forum is a excellent WordPress and general blogging resource, but I digress . . .)

Just to update you on the Riley Central comments issue and my arsenal to fight SPAM, here is an excerpt from an email I sent Nick today thanking him for his help and clarifying what I am doing to fix the problem:

I actually was seeking a custom message that would come up IF a human comment went into Askimet. I don’t think that is possible now.

I think I solved my own problem though. Since Akismet has been swallwing many of my readers’ comments, I deactivated it. To use an alternative SPAM fighting method I am now using:

Bad Behavior Plugin
Simple TrackBack Validation Plugin
-and-
Peter’s Anti Spam Image (Kind of like a captchya)

I have my comments in WordPress set to allow all comments without moderation.

We’ll see how that goes. What have you found in your travels is the best anti-spam solution?

To my readers I pose the same question . . .
