I know that the time I put into this won’t provide the attention deserved, so please take that into consideration. As with all blogs I review at Riley Central, the blog will remain on my Google Reader for one month. If I read something extra special that I like from this blog in that time, I will note that in the comments to this permalink on an ongoing basis.
Blog Title: Red Monkey / Coyote Thunder
uri: coyotethunder.com/
“About this Blog” / BIO Section: VERRRY long. Too long for a passing reader to stop for (I might suggest.) However it tells of an educated person who writes a blog, that draws me in as one in the same J
Aesthetics: It’s red, there’s a monkey. Darnnit if there isn’t a FIXED width again!!! Rrr. Do people actually like these? For those of us with wide screens, they are really wasted on us. It’s a dark theme, it has cool font in the header. The Read Monkey / Coyote Thunder ideas are not easily identifiable. For some that may invoke curiosity. For me, eh . . . not so much. I think a short snippet explaining what the hell is going on is in order in cursory readers are to be kept, but again . . . this is a cursory reading!
Content I read: Fun photoblog post of the front of a house and an old wheelbarrow. As William Carlos Williams once said: “So much depends on a red wheelbarrow!”
Blogroll: A bit scant, but that could indicate they are really good blogs this blogger has a relationship. When I have time I am going to visit these. There is a 9 Rules photoshopped icon. Red Monkey . . . are you in this prestigious group trying to become internet moguls? Honestly when I read about 9 Rules on their site and how they were not currently accepting applications I felt an urgent desire to close all windows and forget I ever saw the leaf. But Red Monkey doesn’t seem elitist so that is an odd juxtaposition.
Summative Thoughts: I know literally nothing about this blogger. Some things I see I like, others look “canned” and run-of-the-mill. It doesn’t help that the current post is simply pictures (oh wait, it’s Wed. huh?) Anyway, the jury is still out on Red Monkey and all press is good press right monkey??? Peace (whew, one more off my list) OH YEAH, ALMOST FORGOT . . . Red Monkey is not running on Blogger.com . . . that alone is worth one thumbs up!
