Well, it’s the day after Christmas and I must say we had a great one. Sarah’s folks came over in the morning and then in the afternoon we traveled down the hill to my parents’ house. The highlight of that visit was a little electronic game we all played called “Catch Phrase Music Edition.” But there’s a lot more to tell. I thought I’d post an update on the family the way normal fathers do sometimes in emails and letters :) … look below.
My wife Sarah has been working really hard the past couple years on becoming a teacher. She’s set to start subbing in February as long as our few best case scenarios work out for child care. The extra money will help, but more than that I think she’s excited to get into the classroom since she’s been laden with theories and books and tests and is eager to put it to practice in a real setting. There’s a lot more great stuff to share, but I think this one is one of those Sarah 2007 things I am most proud of. Oh, and the fact that she stays married to a guy in the funny farm, yeah … I’m grateful for that as well!
My son Brandon is 9 and going on 14. He just got a “rip stick” skateboard for Christmas and I think he’s on his way to becoming a full fledged “skater.” As usual he’s scoring 98-100% on all his district tests in 4th grade and keeping me on my toes as a 4th grade teacher across town so my grade level can compete with this guy and his crew! Brandon is also exploring the drums. The guitar hasn’t held his interest much so we acquiesced to his request for drums this year. He has a 4 pad Yamaha drum setup and so far, his beat are pretty right on! I’ve decided we will record an acoustic CD with him drumming and me on guitar, so stay tuned.
Isabella will be 3 in January. She is singing the Nacho Libre song with the DVD right now (I am I am … ). Singing is her new thing. She sings all the typical kid songs plus ones she writes as she goes along. Watch this girl, she’s gonna be President. She enjoys her V-Smile, painting, drumming and other cute little endeavors we just melt as we watch.
Julianna is 8 months old and already crawling and sitting up on her own! I think because my wife and I are on our computers, Isabella and Brandon are playing their games or otherwise busy, Julianna has figured out if she wants to be in the action, she has to get her little rear in gear … and that she does! She’s sleeping through the night better now. For several months I was up 2-3 times a night with her.
