Some People Suck: RANT RANT
RANT RANT ~ If you know me, you know what I do for a living, I’ll spare the details there. I have to say that people in my profession (not all but many) are truly selfish by nature it seems. I have been working at the same place since 2002 and have heard every form of whining, moaning, and complaining you can imagine … and then some. In addition to the whining, I have been insulted both to my face and behind my back over and over again. There are people at my work who like me and let me know and I really appreciate them, but then there are the evil few, I should call them, who like to spend more time gossipping and naysaying than they do working as professionals. As my title says: some people suck. What do you do when being a leader is the only answer but you can’t stand the people you would be leading and they don’t want to follow you anyway? This is the sort of environment I have been working in. I try to just mind my own business and run my own race, but these people penetrate every work situation. It is impossible to be “an island” in my profession. I will calm down tomorrow and everything will go back to the way it always was: the “cordial” fakeness as people rush to their shadows and stab you in the back. Forgive me . . . anybody have any Pralines n Cream ice cream? I sure could use something sweet right now amidst all this sourness going on at work. I want to change work environments but how do I know the next one will be better? I guess that’s the dilemma of being unhappy with your place of employment: put up or shut up.
I guess I’ll do like I always do and put up (for now). Like I said these people are a small group and I can focus on the many great people around the place … yeah, that’s what I’ll do. Do you ever get frustrated with naysaying people who seemingly will never change? How does it affect you? What do you do to cope?
