Music has the power to move, relax, excite, entice, and bring about every other sort of human emotion . . . you name it. I have a few long standing powerful tunes through the years that “do it” for me no matter what I’m going through or what kind of mood I’m in. Christopher Cross’ “Sailing” is the one playing now. What an amazing recording. Still stands up today. While no one has probably heard of it, except maybe Rory at [Hamelife], “Now in this Hush” by the Innocence Mission is another powerhouse for me. There are so many more I could mention. The Fabulous Thunderbirds “Tough Enough,” The Smithereens “Girl Like You.” What songs have stood the test of time for you and remain on your playlist?

“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” gets me every time! Often a blogger will nudge us to feel, and perhaps post on it. Thanks for blessing me today! =)
I can see how your choice of “Sailing” can take you far away with the wind in your hair. Great choice!
I couldn’t agree more. Music has always been at the heart of what I do. Whether I am at work, in the car, or at home with my family, music always seems to play a part one way or another (and most definitely has the power to move and influence). I am on a Ben Folds kick right now…can’t get enough of “Still Fighting It” — very powerful song in my opinion.
You know what’s weird…my cousin (Mike Bitts) is the bassist for the Innocence Mission. My family is from Lancaster, PA and though I have only seen him a handful of times, I did see him right after they cut “Glow” and they were on MTV. It was neat to hear his take on “making it”. Really cool guy.
Take care…and keep the music coming!
They are a great band! Chris, it sounds like you value music as much as I do. And what a coincidence! Thanks for the comment brother.
