What is the Best Kind of Food?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe via rss -or- inspiration, psychology, blogging

To begin, this post is up for strictly selfish reasons: I need your help deciding what to eat!!!?

As you may have noticed from my spicy post yesterday, I like spicy food.? Today I find myself wondering where to go out for dinner.? I want spicy again, but I can’t decide which kid of spicy food is the best.? Let’s break it down . . . (stream-of-consciousness blog I know):

  1. Mexican Food.? Traditionally the kind one thinks of when hearing “spicy.”? This is ironic because in my experience there isn’t any Mexican dish that is very spicy, apart from chips and salsa.? Burritos can be hot if you put salsa on them, so can tacos soft or hard.? Still, I wonder if using this night out in search of spicy food on Mexican food is the best call. What is your favorite meican food?? I need some ideas here.
  2. Thai/Chinese/Japanese.? These foods are simple consisting of 2 parts: meat and rice.? The hotter the better I say!? There is nothing like a spicy shrimp.? Kun Pao is one of my favorite Chinese dishes.? If you know a good rice/meat plate, please don’t hold out!
  3. American Food.? No spicy. (correct me if I’m wrong here)
  4. Insert your idea here . . .

Hehehe, how bout some spicey cajun? :) I lived in Santa Fe, NM for a long time so as far as Mexican food goes… I’d go for some hot Carne Asada right now or a green chile chicken enchilada… or maybe some red chili fries coated in cheddar cheese…. Or maybe some hot and spicey Carnitas. Finish that off with a warm sopapilla and honey and I’m alllllll Good!

While I do enjoy Ethiopian foods, East Indian (especially South East Indian) foods hold a special place in my heart and stomach. However, I’ve learned that Indian food cooked and served in India is vastly different than North American versions of Indian foods. Sure, Indian chefs in India do create hot and spicy meals, but they also have tonnes of flavour. You can eat many different items and taste each and every bite. In Canada, I find that many Indian dishes are just “burn the roof of your mouth” hot and don’t seem to have the same distinct flavour combinations I found in the food when visiting India.

I’ve always wanted to try Indian food. You’ve given me some nudging toward it. What are some names of well known spicy Indian dishes?
